What are the advantages of glass insulators

In the first few years of production and operation of glass insulators, it is found that it has the following advantages over porcelain insulators.
Because the mechanical strength of glass insulator surface is high, the surface is not easy to crack. The electrical strength of the glass is generally kept unchanged throughout the operation, and its aging process is much slower than that of porcelain. Therefore, the glass insulators are largely discarded because of their self damage, and they occur within the first year of operation, but the defects of porcelain insulators are only discovered after several years of operation.
Using glass insulator, we can cancel the live periodic preventive test of insulators during operation. This is because every damage of toughened glass will cause insulators to damage, and operators can easily find it when they patrol the line. When the insulator is damaged, the glass fragments near the steel cap and iron foot are jammed, and the mechanical strength of the remaining part of the insulator is enough to prevent the insulator string from breaking.
The material used to make glass insulators is more stable than the raw materials used in the manufacture of electric porcelain, which creates good conditions for the stability of the electrical and mechanical properties of the glass.
Because of the transparency of glass, it is easy to detect small cracks and various internal defects and damages when checking the shape.
The mechanical and electrical properties of toughened glass are much higher than that of porcelain, making insulators of the same type, and the size and weight of toughened glass are much smaller than those of porcelain insulators.
